Paint & Sip is a fun and unique way to uncork your creativity as an experienced local professional artist takes you step by step through the process of unleashing your inner Van Gogh to recreate your own masterpiece. Participating at our usual events you get: a canvas, paint, brushes, a professional art lesson, delicious meal, and of course a free glass of wine to sip on while our featured artist takes you through recreating a masterpiece. All proceeds go towards funding Call 2 Care's (NPO) Service Projects. At our resident 91 Loop street venue, we empower local artists by providing a venue to exhibit their masterpieces for the popular Cape Town First Thursday and the duration of the month - all art sales go directly to the featured artist.
We are pleased to announce Nicole Skinng G McComb as our featured artist. Personally, Nicole is more commonly known as Skinny G because of her love for words, swag and her Eastern Cape roots. After growing up in East London, a small coastal town in South Africa, she moved to Stellenbosch to study a B.A. in Fine Art. While at Stellenbosch University, Nicole was afforded the opportunity to study abroad for six months at UNCG, Greensboro, where she learnt the fundamentals in oil painting and figure drawing. For the last two years she has taken on the approach of using paint to document what she sees. Nicole does not try to categorize her images nor create a narrative but rather assess and represent her surroundings along with print media and found images. Nicole college's a mass of repainted pictures that she finds and photographs them to compositionally create an image. She responds to colour, movement and shape made by human figures removed from their original surroundings. Recently, Nicole has focused her art making practice with paint on paper and is researching how these paper pieces can be translated into paper shapes and what structural objects she can build.
